Pallet Barcodes
Pallet barcodes identify pallet deliveries in warehouses. Hence if you are not sending products by pallet, you won’t need them. However, you may need an ITF-14 carton code instead.
Larger retailers, especially supermarkets or companies with large distribution centres like McDonald’s, often require pallet barcodes.
Pallet barcodes are normally needed as a pair of barcodes; a GS128 and an SSCC. The GS128 holds data such as batch number, best-before date etc. The SSCC is a unique number. This is so each pallet can be identified by a retailer or distribution centre.
Sometimes you may just need a new SSCC for a new pallet, as you already have the GS128 barcode for that stock.
The GS128 barcode encodes multiple data such as expiry dates, batch number, quantity, as well as EAN or UPC number for a product.

GS1 Application Identifiers (AIs) are numeric prefixes used in barcodes and EPC/RFID tags to define the meaning and format of encoded data elements.
Some of the most commonly used AIs are:
00 – SSCC
01 – GTIN
10 – Batch number
17 – Expiry date
37 – Number of Units (Count)
GS1-128 Barcode Size Requirements
The size of a GS1-128 barcode depends on the data it contains, the width of the narrowest bar (the X-dimension), and how it will be scanned. Below are the key requirements.
Width and Length

Maximum Length: A GS1-128 barcode must not be longer than 165 mm, including quiet zones.

Maximum Characters: When combining (concatenating) multiple data elements, the total number of characters must not exceed 48, including the FNC1 separator.

Quiet Zones: Clear space must appear on both sides of the barcode. This quiet zone must be at least 10 times the X-dimension.
Height
-
Automated Scanning (distribution environments): The minimum bar height is 32 mm.

Other Environments: Bars should be as tall as practical, but never less than 13 mm.
The recommended minimum height is 15% of the barcode’s overall width, or 5 mm, whichever is greater.
X-Dimension (Narrow Bar Width)
The X-dimension determines how large or dense the barcode is.

Distribution environments: The X-dimension must be between 0.495 mm and 1.02 mm.

Smaller Items / Other Uses: It can be reduced down to 0.25 mm, provided it still prints well and can be scanned reliably.
Human-Readable Text (HRI)
The text printed below the bars should:

Use a clear font (OCR-B, or a simple sans-serif such as Arial).

Have letters at least 2 mm tall.

Place Application Identifiers (AIs) in parentheses.
Note: The parentheses are not encoded in the bars themselves; they are only for the printed text.

This can include name, job title, company name, one landline phone number, one mobile phone number, company address, email address and website URL. Then you can insert the V Business card QR code onto your business card. Your clients can scan the V Business Card QR code with a smartphone, and it will show the information encoded.
Please limit the amount of information encoded. Otherwise, the QR code will have to be bigger.

These types of QR Codes are primarily used on business cards. When a business card QR Code is scanned by a smartphone, an individual’s business card details will appear on the Smartphone screen. The Smartphone user will then be able to save the individual as a ‘Contact’ on their phone.
