Established in 2012, Barsham Brewery crafts beers and ales on their West Barsham estate in North Norfolk. This historic estate has deep roots in agricultural tradition and cultivates some of the finest malting barley in the world.
The top-quality soil, enhanced by Norfolk’s sea air and unique micro-climate, provides the perfect conditions for growing their renowned Maris Otter barley. This barley serves as the base malt for their award-winning Norfolk beers.
Throughout the year, the Barsham team dedicates themselves to nurturing a variety of crops on the farm, including sugar beet, oilseed rape, wheat, vining peas, and barley. As summer approaches and the grains reach peak ripeness, the small team initiates the annual harvesting tradition. They employ a blend of traditional and modern techniques to ensure the harvest concludes by autumn.
Following the harvest, the barley is malted at Crisp Malting, just down the road, and then returns to the estate. Here, the brewing process begins in their state-of-the-art brewery. They combine the malt with pristine water from their own borehole and select hop varieties from around the world to craft their collection of beers.
The beers are available in metal pins and firkins as well as bottles, 9, 18 & 36-pint poly pins and two and four-pint takeaway containers. If you have a private party, message them to arrange the beer. They can help with racks, taps and jackets so your guests can enjoy Norfolk born and brewed beers.
From field to glass, Barsham Brewery celebrates the art of sustainable agriculture. It embodies a true farm-to-table ethos that captures the essence of Norfolk’s agricultural heritage. The brewery proudly proclaims itself as ‘Norfolk born and brewed’ in the truest sense.
